Autistic patients are likely to be having what you would refer to as intense interests, but what they would perhaps consider to be something else. There is no easy way to even get to know what they are all about, only that they seem to be restricted to only particular things or topics. And so you could go round and round and you could still be in the same spot unless you get help from someone who really knows about how to handle them.

I wouldn’t personally think that the numbers actually grew, more like we suddenly became more aware of the condition. And so many people suffer from this thing, it s scary.

Having spent the early years with an autistic child, you might be the only person that the child will have some trust in. It could have taken a lot of time and effort to build that trust, so that the child could trust in you. If you did anything out of line, you could lose it all in a jiffy. So you want to be careful around people who suffer from autism, so that you do not undo al
the trust in a minute that took a lifetime to build.
